Street Art in Ljubljana
October 28 2015
For anyone in the know, it’s not surprising to frequently see Ljubljana, Slovenia, top lists of Europe’s coolest cities. It’s one of those cities that most backpackers might skip during a Euro trip, but here’s why that would be a mistake: Ljubljana, the capital of one of Europe’s newest countries, has the perfect mix of big-city culture with a small-town attitude.
And, while Ljubljana bursts with luxury dining options, street fairs, and flea markets, the city remains authentic. A thriving art scene takes place in both the city’s museums (of which there are many!) and on its streets.
The neighborhood of Metelkova — a former army barracks and art squat — has become the center of Ljubljana’s alternative scenes. A gay bar, Tiffany, is located there, as well as a trendy hostel inside the former prison on the grounds.
